The grinding machine G400 is a light, powerful, compact and versatile grinder, suitable for rapidly carrying out the main process of taping and grinding of ferrules and typical manufactured items for boilers as:
- back gaugingfor welding root removal
- polishing of dish ends, vessels, cones, poles etc
- tack – welded edges preparation by grinding
- welding seam over-thickness removal
The use of the GBC G400 grinding machine represents a solid evolution in the execution of all grinding operations in the boilers and pressure vessels manufacturing sector, with the following advantages compared to manual execution by a single operator with angular grinder:

The pneumatic feeding system of the grinding head, with compensation system, reacts by retracting the advancement piston in the presence of ovality of the piece and consequently reduces the overload in material removal.
The operator’s intervention is necessary to restore the correct feeding rate of grinding disc on the vessel.
The grinding head (mounted on the manipulator arm) can be tilted by 90° to allow longitudinal processing.

The G400 is a semi-automatic edger capable of working circumferentially. This is because the machine is positioned on a trolley, although the head can be mounted on a T-shaped manipulator to perform longitudinal back gouging.
The real maximum depth that the grinder reaches is 120 mm. If the size of the ferrule allows it, the grinder can also be used to resume welding in the internal diameter (with the manipulator).
Two different configurations are available:
- On trolley (Optional) for circumferential shooting outside the cylindrical body;
- On manipulator: for circumferential and longitudinal back gouging inside the cylindrical body by equipping the machine with a fifth wheel kit that allows the head to rotate 360°.
